Thanks to All Who Came or Supported Our 2010 DU Banquet

Our Seventh Annual Banquet. Thanks to all who support our efforts on behalf of the ducks and the wetland habitats.

The banquet for 2010 has come and went.  It was our seventh in a line of fund raising banquets on behalf of Ducks Unlimited.

We had a lot of fun on Saturday.  Live auction, games, raffles, silent auction, and good food at the Whitetail were some of the reasons that brought people out.  But the biggest reason as our auctioneer, Brian Resseguie, likes to say is “we do this for the ducks.”  (This is usually said just before he works the crowd to raise the last bid on an item. “It’s not where we start in the bidding, it’s where we end up that counts.”)

Even with the ducks in mind, Saturday night’s event did have some wonderful bargains and one of a kind items up for auction and on the raffle tables.  Items that would have gone for much more went for a steal at our event.  It’s one of the reasons for the success of our chapter’s dinners.  Everyone who comes through the door stands a good chance of leaving with something worthwhile.  A raffle item of some worth.  An auction item that didn’t require a raid on your savings account.  Or a door prize that you’re not embarrassed to show off.

A beautiful horse print at the silent auction table.

Our dinners are not possible without the support of local businesses and people in the community.  Because of that I’d like to offer a roll call of those who contributed to our fund raising efforts.  The people and businesses below have our gratitude.  Because of their efforts on behalf of Chittenango Creek Chapter and Ducks Unlimited we hope that you consider them the next time you have a choice to make when looking for goods and services.

A breakdown of where your dollar goes when you give to Ducks Unlimited

Ducks Unlimited is an extremely efficient charity.  Charity Navigator’s site follows where the cash goes when you donate to Ducks Unlimited. It breaks down as follows:

  • Program Expenses = 88.6% ~ This is the meat & potatoes of DU, the wetland conservation and the other programs used to study & assist migratory birds.
  • Administrative Expense = 1.7% ~ The cost to pay DU’s scientists, maintain offices, etc.
  • Fundraising Expenses = 9.5% ~ The cost for chapter’s to run banquets, sell raffle tickets, purchase items, etc.
  • Fundraising Efficiency = $0.09 ~ I know this is a good number but don’t ask me to explain it.  Basically we spend only nine cents to raise a dollar.
  • Efficiency Rating = 38.86 ~ This is a great number and helps to give DU Four out of Four stars.

(Note: The graph to the left looks to have been created some time ago and does not reflect the current numbers.  It is, however, nice to know that efficiency with your dollar is a trend that’s been going on for a long time at Ducks Unlimited.)

The Chittenango Creek Chapter of DU has been noted for having high effieciencies when it comes to our fundraising efforts.  And although we like the kudos when it comes to that, it’s just as important for our fund raising events to be fun.
