New conservation model emerges in Canada’s boreal — The Daily Climate.

The article above looks at conservation efforts in Canada’s boreal forests, peat bogs, wetlands and tundra in the Northern Territories.  The area in question is larger than all of the National Parks in the United States put together.  It has a land area of some 470,000 square miles.  The idea is to bank all of the land, preserving it’s valuable resources from development.

Canada’s plans are ambitious, but like everything still has to have its details worked out through the arena of public and private debate.
