New York Waterfowl Hunters Get Gold Star

New York Waterfowl Hunters Get High Marks – NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation.

A current report from the NYS DEC gives New York Hunters high marks. In a random search of hunters on both private & public lands only 2 hunters out of 482 were using banned lead shot.  Add to that the fact that the number of hunting accidents among waterfowlers is low. Since 2001 there’s been on average only 2 hunting accidents per year. Those accidents have usually been self-inflicted or involved minimal injury when a companion was accidently hit by shot.

The part of the report that stood out for me was:

Many waterfowl hunters are also staunch supporters of wetland habitat conservation in New York and throughout North America, contributing millions of dollars annually to habitat protection and enhancement.

Impressive, guys & gals. Impressive.
