Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory” on YouTube (in 6 parts)

Truman Capote’s short story, “A Christmas Memory,” was made into a TV movie and was aired in 1966 on ABC.  Recently I discovered it on YouTube where it is presented in 6 installments.  I do hope that the video is in the public domain and that it doesn’t disappear.  But in any case, a big thanks to erp65 for posting the video.

This TV movie won an Emmy the year it came out.  If you watched the full sequence you can see why.  After watching it I want to exclaim in some cold December morning to my wife, “It’s fruitcake weather”.  (She will then look at me perplexed and question my mental status..)

Many of you may have noticed that the main female character was played by Geraldine Page.  She is famous for her roles on Broadway; but one of my favorite movies, “Trip to Bountiful”, brought her great recognition and her 8th nomination for an Oscar.  She lost that Oscar to Meryl Streep and her performance in “Out of Africa”.

Hope you all enjoyed the clips.  Happy Holidays, to all of you!
